Matrix Service is a leader in the engineering, fabrication, and construction of aboveground storage tanks (AST) and specialty vessels. Since 1984 we have provided tank and vessel construction and tank repair and maintenance services to the downstream petroleum and industrial gas industries. Our professionals are well versed in every aspect of the American Petroleum Institute (API) standards and ASME code work in both atmospheric and pressure storage vessels.

Matrix Service Inc. has the engineering, fabrication and construction expertise to provide large field erected vacuum chambers anywhere in the United States. Our engineering center in Pittsburgh has designed over 70% of the large field erected thermal vacuum chambers in the U.S and pioneered many high vacuum practices now considered standard in the industry that are required to successfully design, fabricate, construct and test such chambers.

Matrix Service Inc., and its subcontractor Dynavac based in Hingham, MA, were recently awarded a turnkey project in excess of $20 million to construct and install a thermal vacuum chamber test facility at the GPS III Test Facility, owned and operated by Lockheed Martin Space Systems Co., a business unit of Lockheed Martin Corp., (NYSE: LMT), one of the largest U.S. aerospace companies.

The Matrix Service/Dynavac scope of work for the GPS III Thermal Vacuum Test Facility covers the engineering, procurement, construction and commissioning of a thermal vacuum chamber, vacuum pumping systems, gaseous nitrogen thermal shroud and systems along with all related mechanical, electrical and control systems. Matrix Service will design, fabricate and construct the vacuum chamber and install all components and systems. Dynavac will design, procure and fabricate the thermal shroud, vacuum pumping systems, control systems and thermal control units to be installed by Matrix Service. The project is scheduled to be complete and fully commissioned by November 2011.
